Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire has taken delivery of the first seven of its Enviro400 double-deckers from Alexander Dennis.
Part of a consignment of 23 for route 125 serving Preston-Chorley-Bolton which represents an investment of around £5.8 million, the septet will hit the roads this summer.
They are among the 200 Euro VI-engined vehicles ordered by Stagecoach last autumn for fleets in Chichester, Folkestone, Manchester, Mansfield, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northampton, Oxford, Portsmouth, Preston, Torquay, Winchester and Yorkshire.
Matt Davies, Managing Director of Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire, says: “We are excited to get all 23 vehicles out on Route 125! Our 125 customers will see all the vehicles out in operation by the end of September, which means they will have an even more reliable journey and a smoother ride and know that they are travelling on one of the most environmentally friendly buses in the area.
“Operating from our Preston depot, our driving team are looking forward to getting behind the wheel and putting their recently recognised excellent GreenRoad Safety standards to use on the new buses. Route 125 is a big part of our depot and the local community in Preston, Chorley and Bolton, so we will also carry out highly localised marketing throughout the year to get more people on board and connect communities.”
