Wrightbus is giving operators the opportunity to get up close with its StreetDeck Electroliner battery-electric offering with a UK-wide tour.
Over the coming months the bus will visit operators in Cardiff, Warrington, Oxford, Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham, Bradford, Blackpool and Manchester as well as other sites in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The tour comes after Wrightbus says successive lockdowns and movement restrictions have made it difficult to demonstrate vehicles to potential customers and local authorities.
“Now restrictions have been lifted, we’ve decided to remedy that by taking the bus on the road and allowing our customers to enjoy testing its full capabilities,” says Wrightbus CEO Buta Atwal.
With a 454kW/h battery pack delivering a claimed 200-mile range, Wrightbus hopes to demonstrate to customers that the vehicle is suited to all routes whether urban or rural. Recharge time according to the manufacturer is two hours and 45 minutes.
“We haven’t weighed the bus down with a high battery volume just so we can say it’s got the most power or range; instead, we’ve created the most efficient vehicle by combining optimum power with a class-leading rapid charge, meaning our electric bus spends more time on the road than any other,” Mr Atwal adds. “We’re confident our customers will enjoy the experience.”
