Tap-on, tap-off hits one million uses

After introduction on Brighton and Hove Buses and Metrobus in September 2019, tap-on, tap-off contactless has hit one million transactions.

Since the launch, less than 10% of passengers now pay with cash and 34,400 passengers have saved money with its daily fare cap.

Brighton and Hove Buses’ Commercial Director Nick Hill says: “Tap-on, tap-off contactless has made it even easier for passengers to use our services and to get the best fare, without needing to know the fare or how many journeys they’ll make.

“This is reflected in the strong take-up of tap-on, tap-off locally and the fact that fewer people are paying by cash on the bus than ever before. In turn, it helps make boarding quicker and everyone’s journey a little bit smoother.”

The tap-on, tap-off technology uses Littlepay payment processing and Ticketer ticket machines.
