The licence revocation comes after previous warnings were given over vehicle maintenance in 2012
The licence held by Wigton-based Thomason Travel has been revoked on financial grounds with effect from 30 March by Deputy Traffic Commissioner (DTC) Miles Dorrington.
Craig and Tracy Thomason, trading as Thomason Travel, of Station Road, Wigton, had been called before the DTC at a Golborne Public Inquiry (PI) in October, following an unsatisfactory report from Vehicle Examiner Andrew Sefton and the issue of a number of prohibitions including an ‘S’ marked immediate prohibition for a defective tyre.
At a previous PI in 2012 DTC Patrick Mulvenna gave the firm a warning over their vehicle maintenance. In the event the DTC cut the licence from six vehicles to five for a period of four days to mark that vehicle maintenance had slipped despite the previous warning. After hearing financial evidence in private the DTC accepted an undertaking that further financial evidence would be produced.
In revoking the licence following a further PI on 10 January at which the financial evidence was heard in private, the DTC concluded that he was not satisfied that the partners met the required financial standing for even two vehicles and he was not prepared to give them more time.
