Time to make a stand

Having read the piece about the ULEZ date being brought forward [routeone/News/8 November], I wonder why CPT or anyone else hasn’t challenged this more.

Since the LEZ has come in, I have raised queries about whether a coach is actually that polluting, in comparison to how the passengers would get there otherwise – 14 cars would be a comparison. Are we saying that the pollution and carbon footprint of a coach is more than 14 cars?

No one has ever been able to give me an answer and yet I feel it’s a perfectly clear argument for our industry.

Surely the industry or organisations like CPT should lobby on our behalf, or, dare I say it, maybe strike or bring cities to a standstill like the haulage industry does when they are not thought of.

Everyone in our industry has issues one way or another and it’s about time we stood together and made some changes for all of us.

Would CPT or other organisations join together to start challenging such actions for the industry? The LEZ and ULEZ should be challenged on the grounds of efficiency for the country – using a coach or multiple is better than using cars or such like.

We need someone to make a stand and for us all to stand with them.
