Two National Express employees have fought off competition from 45,000 employees from across the whole of the National Express Group to win international awards.
Coventry driver Sammy Khumalo was awarded the Customer Value Award for 2016, and Trevor Sale, who works at works at National Express’ Birmingham trim shop, became the Group’s overall Community Value Award winner.
Sammy had already won the National Express UK Bus Award for Driver of the Year in February, so he was put forward to the global awards, which were presented in London on 27 April.
MD of National Express Coventry, Martin Hancock, says: “Sammy joined National Express in 2013 and after only three years, he’d already gained the additional skills required to become Coventry’s first Master Driver.
Trevor helps repair and maintain the wheelchairs used by the Warwickshire Bears Wheelchair Basketball Academy, doing whatever is necessary to keep the wheelchairs on the court.
Says Dan Smith, the Treasurer of the Warwickshire Bears: “Trevor is a fantastic guy. He’s done so much with all aspects of our gameplay.”
