Women in Bus and Coach (WiBC) has unveiled a competition to allow an aspiring female leader join its board of Directors.
The successful candidate will join the newly established board, which currently numbers nine, for a one-year term.
The volunteer-based mentored role is open to anyone who identifies as a woman, who currently works in at any level in the coach, bus or community transport sectors, and who “demonstrates exceptional leadership potential, a passion for the road passenger transportation industry, and a commitment to gender equality and diversity”.
“This competition is a testament to our commitment to fostering inclusivity and promoting gender diversity within our industry,” says Louise Cheeseman, Chair of WiBC. “We believe that empowering women in leadership positions not only drives innovation and creativity but also fosters a more inclusive and resilient industry.”
WiBC says the opportunity will offer an “insight into the strategic decision-making processes, industry dynamics, and leadership responsibilities that come with serving on a board of Directors”.
Lorna Murphy, Director of Women in Bus and Coach, adds: “We are thrilled to provide a platform for a woman who represents the next generation of leaders to step into this mentee management role and make meaningful contributions to our organisation.
“By offering mentorship and hands-on experience, we aim to empower future female leaders to realise their full potential and drive positive change in the bus, coach and community transport industry.”
Applicants will need to apply by submitting a CV and a covering letter by the deadline of Friday 24 May. The selected mentee will be announced on 19 June. See the Women in Bus Coach website for full information.
