Pelican Bus and Coach has expanded its sales team for Yutong coaches with two Area Sales Manager (ASM) appointments. The Castleford dealership says that the move strengthens its existing coverage of the UK and Ireland as it targets further market share growth.
Promoted from another role in the business is Amelia Crump (pictured, left). She covers an eastern portion of England extending from Scarborough to Lincolnshire and northern parts of Nottinghamshire, with a view to that territory expanding in the future. Amelia is from the fourth generation of the Crump family to work within Pelican, which was founded in 1919 by Ernest Crump, and the daughter of current Managing Director Richard Crump.
Taking up the ASM role for East Anglia, the Midlands and South Wales is Lee McMahon (pictured, right). He brings over 22 years’ experience of the retail coach market, which Pelican Sales Manager Bob Elliott says will allow him “to meet the requirements of customers in that sector.”
Additionally, the appointment of Amelia will allow Bob to devote an increased amount of time to Yutong coach sales in Scotland and on the island of Ireland, alongside other responsibilities.
In acknowledging that while 2020 and 2021 were very difficult years for the coach industry, he adds that Pelican saw its share of the coach market continue to grow while at the same time recording strong sales of Yutong battery-electric buses. The dealership registered 30 new coaches last year and it already has multiple deliveries in hand for the first quarter of 2022.
“These are testing times for the coach sector, but the Yutong brand is now firmly established in the UK and we expect to see our market share rise further this year. In addition to our diesel products, interest in the battery-electric TCe12 coach continues to gather. I am pleased to welcome Amelia and Lee to the coach sales team.”
