Jim Stones set to sell or close bus business

Jim Stones Coaches, which operates a network of bus services centred on Leigh in Greater Manchester, has announced that it will close after service on Saturday 18 April if a buyer is not found for the business.

The decision has been made owing to poor health, with Director Jim Stones stressing that the reasons are not financial. If a sale is not agreed, Mr Stones adds that the operator will help its drivers to find new employment.

In a statement, the company says: “We have made Transport for Greater Manchester aware of the situation. We will continue to keep it informed of any potential sale or closure of the business so that we can, between us, minimise any impact on our customers.”

Jim Stones operates nine Alexander Dennis Enviro200s. It also retains a well-known Leyland-DAB Tiger Cub dating from 1984.
