Solihull-based LandFlight has continued its ongoing fleet investment programme, this time with a £325,000 spend on a Mercedes-Benz Tourismo and a V-Class MPV.
They form part of a £2.3m programme to upgrade all the operator’s vehicles to Euro 6 standards. The V-Class is in addition to that replacement plan.
LandFlight Director Danny Matthews says that the decision to take the the whole fleet to Euro 6 was influenced by both London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone and the impending Birmingham Clean Air Zone (CAZ).
The Birmingham CAZ has been delayed from its originally planned January implementation date. When it is introduced, it will mandate a £50 daily charge for coaches and buses that are not Euro 6 compliant.
“We’re proud to be growing our fleet and to help make the West Midlands and Birmingham more environmentally-friendly in support of the CAZ,” he adds.
The Tourismo will also allow LandFlight to grow its touring operation, with the coach having been specified to suit that role.
“Recently we have been working more with tour companies and this is an area we would like to expand on in the future. The new Tourismo coach will be perfect for the needs of the tour industry,” adds Mr Matthews.
