2,200 people visited Mayne's Buckie depot with around £5,000 raised

Coach operator Maynes of Buckie raised around £5,000 for Alzheimer’s Scotland at a depot open day held on 7 April and part of the celebrations marking this year’s 70th anniversary of the business.

The event attracted 2,200 visitors, says Director Kevin Mayne.

“Everyone in the Mayne family was overwhelmed by the turnout and the offers of help that we received. Without the people that assisted us, the day would not have been a success.”

Besides a display of Maynes’ own fleet – including a petrol-engined Bedford OB that represents its first coach – other vehicles attended from as far away as Ayrshire and the Scottish Borders.

“Fellow operators made the long trip up to Buckie to enjoy the day, and without the help given by the local army cadets and the BBs we would have been even busier than we were.

“They did a sterling job and a great day was had by all,” says Mr Mayne.
