In a publicity stunt, the new £1.35bn Queensferry Crossing, over the Firth of Forth, will open to traffic on 30 August, before shutting 72 hours later for two days to allow locals to walk across it.
The bridge was due to open in May, having been put back from 2016, but has been beset by delays. The date when it will open permanently has yet to be announced.
The bridge will become to a motorway once the final public transport links to the north of the Forth Road Bridge are completed.
