23 Enviro400s have entered service with Stagecoach North East on Tyneside, supplied by Alexander Dennis (01909 551166).

They represent an investment of £5.2m and operate from the company’s Walkergate depot.

Engine stop-start technology is fitted, along with USB charging points and free wi-fi. The double-deckers follow 18 Enviro200s recently delivered to Teesside.

The Enviro400s also have audio-visual next stop announcements with scrolling LED displays. That concept continues to be developed by SNE in partnership with user group North East Action on Transport (NEAT).

Says Stagecoach North East Managing Director Steve Walker: “We’re delighted that the technology is helping to make life easier for all of our passengers and making buses a better option. We thank NEAT for its valuable contribution.”
