Chris Stringer joins Brighton and Hove and Metrobus senior team

Brighton and Hove and Metrobus Engineering Director Chris Stringer

Chris Stringer has been named Engineering Director of Go-Ahead Group subsidiaries Brighton and Hove Buses and Metrobus.

Mr Stringer joins from fellow Go-Ahead business U-Go Mobility in Australia, where he was Head of Assets at the start-up from May 2023. Prior to that he was Director of Engineering with Go-Ahead Ireland.

His career started as an apprentice with Oxford Bus Company in 2004 before progressing to the role of Engineering Manager there. It additionally includes spent time with Go-Ahead’s business in Singapore, also as Engineering Manager.

A return to the UK follows almost eight years of working internationally. Mr Stringer is a Chartered Engineer, and moves back from Australia with his wife and two sons.

Speaking about the arrival of Mr Stringer, Brighton and Hove Buses and Metrobus Managing Director Ed Wills says: “Chris has experience of leading the engineering function at a number of our sister companies.

“In doing so, he has achieved an excellent reputation within the wider business. I very much look forward to working with Chris to make our business even more sustainable and energy efficient, and to keep our passengers safe. I congratulate Chris on his much-deserved appointment.”

Mr Stringer is the second recent addition to the Brighton and Hove and Metrobus senior leadership team. In September, former Stagecoach man Gordon Frost was named Operations Director of the business.
