Three employees of coach holiday specialist Daish’s Holidays will climb Snowdon in late September to raise money for the company’s chosen 2024 charity, The Eve Appeal.
IT Manager Darren Gilchrist (pictured, right), Commercial Director Paul Harper, (pictured, centre) and Head of Operations Benjamin Hayter (pictured, left) will take on the challenge overnight on 27-28 September. The chosen route will see them cover nine miles over between five and eight hours.
They each work at Daish’s Holidays’ Bournemouth head office. The Eve Appeal funds research for and raises awareness of the prevention and early diagnosis of the five gynaecological cancers. Its work includes developing effective methods of risk prediction, earlier detection, and efficient screening.
Speaking about the quest, Mr Harper says: “In January this year we sadly bade farewell to our much-loved company founder Jeanne Wilson following her cancer diagnosis.
“The decision to take on the challenge of trekking Snowden to raise money for The Eve Appeal is testament to the remarkable work that the charity does, and the desire of the whole of the Daish’s team to support it as much as possible.
“We will brave the dark and whatever nature throws at us to raise as much as we can for this worthy cause. Darren, Benjamin and I have adopted a strict training regime that sees us walking up to 30 kilometres each week in preparation for the feat.
“Albeit nervous, we are very much looking forward to the challenge and supporting the wonderful work that The Eve Appeal undertakes.”
