Newport Transport has promoted Lee Ahern to Engineering Director. He joined the municipally owned South Wales operator in 2019 as Head of Engineering, having previously held the position of Business Manager with First West of England in Bristol.
Lee’s elevation to Engineering Director is in recognition of his “exceptional input” into the company since joining, says Newport Bus Managing Director Scott Pearson. In his new role Lee will continue to support the operator in its pursuit of new technology and continuous improvement.
He says: “Since I joined Newport Transport it has been a fantastic experience developing the engineering team and working towards a very successful introduction of the infrastructure for our battery-electric buses. This expanded role will assist the company in delivering a zero-emission bus fleet for Newport.”
Adds Scott: “We are delighted to welcome Lee as our Engineering Director as the company progresses its strategy to roll out a carbon neutral fleet over the coming years. Lee’s understanding and commitment to our vision for Newport Transport and the exceptional input he has contributed since joining us have made this a very easy and welcome appointment to make.”
