Local bus company Arriva Yorkshire, proudly hosted an awards dinner recently for 15 of their drivers who have amazingly clocked up 647 years of safe driving between them.
The Safe Driver Awards are an annual event held to celebrate drivers who successfully complete a sustained period of service with zero blameworthy incidents.
Leading the way with 33 years of safe driving was Wakefield based driver Colin Alder.
Despite driving thousands of miles a year, Colin hasn’t had a blameworthy incident whilst in service with Arriva for 33 years.
On receiving the award Colin says: “I really enjoyed the awards lunch. It’s great to be recognised, along with my colleagues, for doing a job well.”
Jon Croxford, area managing director for Arriva Yorkshire says: “For these 15 drivers to have clocked up so many years of driving without an incident, despite the ever increasing congestion and challenges on the roads today is something we, and they, should be proud of. It’s a great achievement.“
To help drivers provide incident free services they regularly take part in training aimed at reducing road risk, proactively work with local road safety groups and various other initiatives designed to deliver incident free journeys.
