Stagecoach has donated £100,000 to a selection of grassroots charitable organisations in Greater Manchester to support the fight against homelessness.
Ten such groups have received an equal share of that sum. Beforehand, the operator worked with the Manchester Homelessness Partnership to understand which charities would most benefit and Forever Manchester to set up the £100,000 fund.
Each recipient is delivering vital services to people experiencing homelessness in and around Manchester. Donation of the money sits alongside Stagecoach Manchester’s social value principles as a Bee Network operator partner.
The organisations receiving a £10,000 donation are:
-
- Albert Kennedy Trust
- Barnabus
- Booth Centre
- Coffee4Craig
- Lifeshare
- Manchester Action in Street Health
- Mustard Tree
- On the Out CIC
- Reach out to the Community
- Supporting People in Need.
The money is already being put to use across Greater Manchester. As well as providing support for essential items, it is funding a wellbeing garden by Supporting People in Need, and providing salary for part-time staff to work closer with vulnerable individuals by On the Out CIC.
Speaking about the donation, Stagecoach Manchester Managing Director Rob Jones (pictured, right) says: “Delivering social value is incredibly important for us, and we are acutely aware of the growing demand for support from services tackling homelessness in and around Manchester.
“As part of the Bee Network, we wanted to use the donations to make a real difference in the region at such a critical time of year. By working closely with Manchester Homelessness Partnership and Forever Manchester, it has been great to hear first-hand how the funds will be used at a grassroots level to help those who need it most.”
Manchester Homelessness Partnership marks 10 years in 2026. Chair Dr Ruth Thompson adds that support from businesses like Stagecoach “is a vital part of our efforts to tackle rough sleeping across Manchester.”
