Stagecoach marked the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day with its own rendition of Dame Vera Lynn’s wartime anthem ‘We’ll Meet Again’ this bank holiday weekend.
Drivers, engineers, managers, cleaners and other staff from 15 Stagecoach depots each came together to sing a line of the famous song to pay tribute to those who fought during the Second World War.
Group Head of Media and Public Affairs at Stagecoach Emma Knight says: “While everybody in the country is pulling together during these difficult times, we wanted to come together and remember all those who sacrificed so much during the Second World War.
“We were astounded by the positive response from our teams right across the country to take part in our special video, and we’re very proud that our staff are involved in commemorating such a proud occasion.
“Buses play a crucial role in connecting people and providing that essential daily social link. When we come out of lockdown and enter a new normal way of life, we know that our services will continue to be vital in helping to reunite people and we’re looking forward to meeting all of our customers again.”
In addition to the video, Stagecoach buses across the UK carried destination boards recognising the 75th anniversary of VE Day and observed two minutes’ silence at 11am.
