Stagecoach West has awarded its top five eco drivers, with Cheltenham driver Nicholas Edward being named overall ‘Best in West’.
The top five drivers, one for each of Stagecoach West’s depots were: Nicholas Edward, Cheltenham; David Cox, Gloucester; Andrew Tyler, Ross-on-Wye; Robert Stacey, Stroud; Michael Godfrey, Swindon.
Operations Director Rachel Geliamassi says: "I am so proud of our local drivers who have demonstrated excellent eco-driving skills over the last 12 months.
“Their smooth driving provides more comfortable journeys for our passengers and helps reduce our carbon footprint. They are all so worthy of this acknowledgment."
The Ecodriver system – which each bus is fitted with – reduces CO2 emissions and fuel consumption in road transport by encouraging the adoption of green driving behaviour.
