Tom Donnelly has been named Operations Manager of York depot by First Bus. He joins from sister business Aircoach in Ireland, having held the same position there, and will be responsible for more than 200 drivers and a fleet of over 80 buses in York.
Prior to joining Aircoach in 2021, Mr Donnelly worked in various positions in the rail sector, including in York, and among other bus operators in the UK and Ireland.
He returns to the city as the First Bus fleet there is making strong progress towards becoming entirely zero-emission, with 53 Wrightbus battery-electric vehicles currently being delivered.
Speaking about his appointment, Tom Donnelly says: “It is great to be back in York, and I have joined at an exciting time in the transformation of First Bus and the future of transport in the city.
“More zero-emission buses are gradually entering our fleet since the new-look York Electric vehicles began operating at the end of August, and the total conversion of the depot with power charging infrastructure is progressing well.”
First Bus is investing £13 million into the Wrightbus vehicles. That is coupled to £10.2 million in Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas money secured by York City Council towards the purchase.
