Go-Ahead Group owned Southern Vectis has appointed two new supervisors to oversee its school bus and private hire services on the Isle of Wight.

Responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of 50 vehicles, 50 drivers and 16 pupil escorts, the new team leaders take all bookings, as well as scheduling colleagues and vehicles.

Gemma Rowney has been with the company since 2007 as a network bus driver. She acted as mentor to new network drivers at Southern Vectis before being seconded to schools. In 2017, Gemma was appointed as private hire administrator.

Mykel Blakey has worked with Southern Vectis since 2014 also as a network bus driver. Having moved from Alnwick in Northumberland, she has also acted as mentor to new network drivers.

Richard Tyldsley, Southern Vectis General Manager says: “I’m delighted we have been able to promote Gemma and Mykel from within our own team here.”
