Former Arriva man Adam Toone has been named Chief Operating Officer by public transport technology solutions provider UrbanThings.
In his new role Mr Toone will oversee all operational aspects of the supplier’s affairs. He will focus on setting a business strategy and leading the UrbanThings commercial team to deliver what it describes as “continuous improvement and innovations that [customers] look for in a partner like UrbanThings.”
Mr Toone brings over 10 years’ experience in commercial and general management positions. He joined Arriva in 2019 and most recently was Digital and Commercial Platforms Director with the group. While with Arriva he led on all UK bus digital, commercial and IT systems, from scheduling and ticketing machines to the app and website.
Among projects under Mr Toone’s control in those disciplines were the launch of multiple demand responsive transport services, delivery of a new scheduling system, and the deployment of tap on, tap off contactless ticketing. He is also a former non-executive Director of Traveline.
