Victoria Davies is to depart the Traffic Commissioner for Wales position and take up a new appointment elsewhere from 1 March.

Ms Davies assumed the Traffic Commissioner role in early 2020 and brought over 25 years’ legal experience. From 2010 until then she had worked as a senior lawyer managing the Welsh Government’s transport team, and before that spent eight years with the Department for Transport as a senior advisory lawyer.

No details of her successor has yet been announced. Senior Traffic Commissioner Kevin Rooney has thanked Ms Davies for her service and contribution to road safety in Wales.

“I wish her every success in her new position,” he adds. “Her work has strengthened the Traffic Commissioner tribunal. In addition to the hours spent on cases, education and encouraging road transport business, she has enhanced cooperation between the Traffic Commissioner and the Welsh Government.”

Welsh Government Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales Ken Skates has echoed Mr Rooney’s comments, noting: “I would like to thank Victoria Davies for her dedicated service as the Traffic Commissioner for Wales over the past six years.

“I look forward to supporting the recruitment process that will now begin to appoint her successor and ensure the continued promotion and effective regulation of safe and reliable road passenger and goods transport in Wales.”
