Cambridgeshire operator Whippet has donated advertising space on the rear of one of its buses to the Papworth Trust. The vehicle will run in and around Cambridge to promote the charity’s work across the region and the scheme will be in place for two years, representing a non-cash gift worth almost £3,000.

The advert features Chris (pictured), a customer at the Trust’s South Cambridgeshire Day Opportunities service. His regular attendance there has enabled him to develop new skills and gain confidence and independence.

Whippet took the bus in question to the service’s Unity Campus site on 10 June so that Chris and other customers could see the advert for themselves.

Speaking about the advertising space donation, Whippet Managing Director Ed Cameron says: “Papworth Trust supports thousands of people, their families and carers each year, providing a whole range of facilities and services – helping to deliver independence and choice for disabled people.

“We are thrilled to be able to help promote the Trust across the county. It was fantastic to meet Chris and some of the other customers at Unity Campus.”

Papworth Trust notes that the collaboration highlights how local businesses and charities can achieve a positive impact when working together for the benefit of the community.

Adds Partnerships Fundraiser Amy Hall: “We are extremely grateful to Whippet for its kindness and generous support in helping to spread the news about the good work of Papworth Trust.

“Raising awareness is a crucial part of our work, and having our message displayed across the local area will help us to connect with more people who may need our services, wish to volunteer, or want to support our cause.”

The charity is inviting people in and around Cambridge who see the decorated bus to take a photograph of it and share the image to the Papworth Trust social media pages.
