Activcameras, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of CCTV systems to coach and bus operators, is celebrating 20 years in the industry this month. To mark the anniversary the company has launched a new website.
As one of the first suppliers of mobile CCTV in the UK, Activcameras has installed systems for hundreds of operators and local authorities. Over the past two decades the business has sustained its position as a market leader during a period that’s seen huge adoption of CCTV across the industry.
A Department for Transport report published at the end of 2017 stated that 91% of buses used by local operators in England had CCTV, a figure up from 44% in 2005/6.
Activcameras founder Jim Westland says: “Compared to when we started, the threats operators now face are an increase in the level of violent crime, and the organised targeting of ‘crash for cash’ insurance fraudsters – making CCTV even more important as a deterrent and in providing evidence.”
