Allison Transmission has announced its FuelSense 2.0 product. It includes DynActive Shifting and delivers up to a 6% consumption reduction over its original FuelSense software, which was introduced in March 2014.
DynActive Shifting provides an infinitely variable combination of shift points, with FuelSense 2.0 using a learning algorithm to continually find the best balance of economy and performance. It optimises consumption in all segments of the duty cycle.
FuelSense 2.0 is “ideally suited” to bus fleets and the 6% additional saving has been validated in almost 3m test miles.
Available packages are FuelSense 2.0, FuelSense 2.0 Plus and FuelSense 2.0 Max. The latter two include improved neutral at stop functionality, and FuelSense 2.0 Max adds acceleration rate management.
Neutral at stop reduces or eliminates load on the engine when the bus is stationary.
In its standard version, partial neutral is selected, while at the premium level, full neutral is selected and a new, low-speed coasting facility is included.
Acceleration rate management mitigates aggressive driving by controlling engine torque and limiting acceleration to a customised rate.
FuelSense 2.0 will be available from mid-April.
