When designing a heavy-duty driver seat it’s not simply a seat that can take the weight of the occupant. As Isaac Newton said, “what goes up must come down” and kinetic energy must be considered.
Everyday driving creates stresses and strains on a seat – potholes and speed humps can create downward forces greater than the weight of the driver and sudden jolts make a demanding time for the seat.
Be-Ge has launched a heavy-duty driver’s seat with a weight capacity of 220kgs (35 stone). When designing the Town & Country seat, it also looked at kinetic factors and tested beyond this. At MIRA it successfully achieved a fully functioning seat at 275kgs (43 stone) to allow for the stresses and strains.
Another factor taken into consideration is that the seat would be used by a variety weights. So, we have balanced our seat perfectly to allow a wide scope of drivers a very comfortable ride indeed.
