Stertil Koni has supplied 12 sets of ST1075FWA wireless column lifts to Go North West. They have been deployed at the Bolton and Wigan depots taken up by the operator in September as part of the first tranche of bus franchising in Greater Manchester.
Each set of lifts is made up of four columns that deliver an individual capacity of 7,500kg, giving a significant safety margin when compared to bus weights.
The columns for Go North West include Stertil Koni’s ebright Smart Control System. It allows workshop staff to operate them individually, in pairs, or in any other combination in the set. Positioning is flexible.
Part of the ebright Smart Control System is a display of how many columns in the set are being used, plus each unit’s battery status. An independent mechanical locking safeguard in each column allows technicians to secure the lifts, preventing a vehicle from being inadvertently lowered.
Power comes from long life, deep cycle batteries that provide what the supplier says is “optimum performance for at least a week on average until recharging is necessary.” Energy is used only to raise a vehicle, unlike with a screw lift. Charging is carried out via a 230v single-phase supply.
An absence of cables means that set-up time is reduced, which Stertil Koni adds makes the ST1075FWA columns operational rapidly. A synchronisation system ensures smooth lifting and lowering even in the event of highly uneven load distribution. Adjustable width forks are supplied, making the columns suitable for different wheel sizes.
