Irizar UK has commenced the first phase of development of what will ultimately become a new head office at Blyth in Nottinghamshire for the supplier of DAF-engined integral coaches.
Initial work will see the construction of a secure yard to hold stock coaches along with the addition of a sales office. Main technical and administration functions will remain at the current premises in Worksop.
‘More convenient for Irizar UK customers’
Says Sales Director Julie Hartley: “We are delighted to start work on the new site at Blyth. This will make it more convenient for customers to visit the sales team ahead of further development of what will become the new home of Irizar UK.”
Customers will be able to visit the new site, adjacent to the A1, five days per week. They will thus be able to view all Irizar UK stock vehicles – both new and used – in one location.
Irizar UK’s relationship with Johnson Bros Tours remains in place. It will offer service support and parts through Masterpart.
Gotzon Gómez, Irizar Export Director, adds that the move to Blyth demonstrates the importance of the UK market to the Spanish manufacturer.
“We are delighted by the progress made in the UK, with approaching 500 vehicles sold there. Many loyal repeat customers and plenty of interest from fresh prospects have all been attracted by the style and quality of our products.”
Irizar celebrates 130 years
As it celebrates its 130th anniversary, Irizar has assigned an allocation of special edition i6S integral coaches to the UK. To ensure continuity of supply and price stability through Brexit, they will arrive here before 31 October.
The 12.9m two-axle models will have either 53 or 57 seats. They will have he 410bhp MX-11 engine and ZF’s EcoLife gearbox.
The i6S integral complements the low-height i4 integral, the i6 integral and the range-topping i8 integral in Irizar UK’s range.
