D-Carb Global will this month begin production of a portable machine that cuts emissions and improves fuel efficiency.
It reduces carbon build-up and takes between 30 and 60 minutes to complete the cleaning process.
Engines that are free from carbon deposits deliver greater power, torque and fuel efficiency, and need not work as hard as one that is affected by build-ups.
The machine initiates electrolysis to create hydrogen and oxygen vapour. The vapour is then piped through the engine via a hose attached to the air filter, oxidising the carbon and pushing it out of the exhaust.
The Australian developer says that 200 units will be manufactured on the first production run. It adds that the portability, cost-effectiveness and short treatment times allowed by the unit mean that it is ideal for coach and bus operators.
“There are significant environmental and cost benefits. Any organisation that takes one of our units is not just saving the world – they’re saving money as well,” says CEO John Stewart.
Tests on heavy-duty engines have seen D-Carb Global deliver an initial fuel saving of 7.8% as part of regular servicing.
