Protect staff in the garage with new BrakeMate

BrakeMate vastly simplifies a formerly awkward, labour-intensive task

The often awkward tasks that involve the lifting of heavy brake calipers, hubs and discs can now be done with ease with BrakeMate.

BrakeMate is a system that includes a powered trolley using an air over hydraulic system. It takes care of all lifting and lowering operations; it also reduces the time required to change brake components.

A manual 10-tonne hydraulic ram on the trolley locates onto the wheel studs and separates the hub assembly from the vehicle.

To allow the easy removal of the caliper BrakeMate uses another trolley with an adjustable clamp mechanism.

Once the hub is removed from the vehicle, the two trolleys are rolled together and BrakeMate removes the disc from the hub.

The used disc is rolled out of the way and a rack is rotated to allow the new one to be moved into position.

The complete unit is then easily refitted to the vehicle and the whole operation requires only one person, which BrakeMate’s manufacturer – Australian company Tulip Corporation – says allows the purchase cost to be rapidly recouped.
