Snapper Services has helped the Go-Ahead Group to achieve 91% on-time performance on its North Kent Fastrack bus rapid transit network for three consecutive months in a return that the supplier says “reflects a data-led approach.”
Go-Ahead took over the North Kent Fastrack services in late 2024 on a 15-year contract from Kent County Council. Transition to battery-electric operation with a fleet of Irizar ie tram buses has added to the challenge while also raising expectations for punctuality and consistency, Head of Fastrack Isobel Hedley-Jones says.
Use of the Mosaiq Transit Intelligence Suite from Snapper Services has contributed to the success. While largely used behind the scenes, it has supported performance monitoring, timetable refinement and operational reporting.
Delivery of real-time insights has proved particularly valuable in complex situations, such as Fastrack’s serving of an Amazon fulfilment centre in Gravesend. A pattern of early running there was identified, and informed adjustments were made to mitigate it.
“This kind of insight really helps us to make the right changes, whether it is for better crew changeovers or understanding how passengers interact with the service,” says Go-Ahead London Fastrack Network Ambassador Neil Sadler.
“We are not guessing – we are showing exactly what is happening, and when, with data,” he continues. Granular timing data between stops helped identify other areas for improvement, such as dwell times at busy interchange points including Bluewater Shopping Centre.
Adds Snapper Services Chief Revenue Officer Jon Salmon: “It is great to see Kent Fastrack achieving strong performance so early in its electric network rollout. The team has used data in a very practical way to improve service delivery, and we are pleased that Mosaiq has played a role in helping it to get there.”
Snapper adds that exceeding 90% on-time performance puts Fastrack among the most reliable bus services in the UK, combining dedicated bus infrastructure with a proactive operational approach.
