Facilities management specialist and vehicle operator Vertas has deployed the Trakm8 telematics system in its 280-strong fleet of coaches, minibuses, vans and cars.
The work aims to support Vertas’ mission to become carbon neutral by 2030. It will also allow management and tracking of its fleet. That should reduce vehicle downtime and help employees to “take ownership” of their driving by reducing what Trakm8 says is fuel inefficient behaviour.
Deployment of the Trakm8 platform will come in two stages. First will be installation of the supplier’s plug-in C330 solution to assist fuel efficiency. Later this year, that system will be upgraded to the RH600 model.
The RH600 is what Trakm8 claims is “the most advanced 4G integrated telematics camera in the UK, combining rich telematics data with an industry-leading cab camera system.” That will provide drivers and fleet managers with “a fully integrated and cutting-edge solution,” the supplier continues.
Speaking about the agreement with Trakm8, Vertas Head of Fleet and Passenger Transport Lee Howes says: “Vertas is dedicated to reducing its carbon emissions, a driving force behind our decision to upgrade our use of telematics in the fleets we operate.
“Trakm8 was the obvious choice as we wanted an immediate solution that could be integrated initially as a plug-in solution while having the option to provide a more extensive service as we work on upgrading our fleet later this year.
“With such varying vehicles, it was essential that any solution could be quickly and simply integrated across the whole fleet and be equally effective throughout.”
Trakm8 Fleet and Optimisation Sales Director Joe Heidari adds: “We are delighted to be working closely with Vertas. This is a great example of how our solutions can meet the needs of fleets of all shapes and sizes.
“By adding our market leading fleet management, Vertas can not only enhance its service offering to customers, but will take a big step towards its sustainability aims.”
