Reading Buses was celebrating another record-breaking Open Day as it finalised the totals from the event. It is expecting the total contribution for their charity of the year, Autism Berkshire, to be over £9,000 for the first time.

The operator says this shows how popular the Open Day has become with the total amount raised just four years ago standing at less than £4,500.
Says Chief Executive Officer Martijn Gilbert: “It was an amazing day on Sunday and what a great way for me to mark my final Reading Buses Open Day – a record take and what looks like being a record contribution for charity.
“There were hundreds, if not thousands, of attendees, the sun shone and everyone enjoyed all we had to offer. I’d like to thank all our lovely volunteers who helped out – the Reading Buses employees giving up their Sunday, the Gurkha community who have helped us tirelessly for the last few years and of course our sponsors who contribute to the costs of the day, allowing us to give away even more money to Autism Berkshire.
