Brighton & Hove Buses will celebrate the city’s second Disability Pride later this month by offering free travel to companions of disabled concessionary card holders.

Community Transport Brighton & Hove and Brighton & Hove Buses will also run shuttle buses every 15 to 20 minutes from Brighton Station and Churchill Square to Disability Pride at the Peace Statue, Hove Lawns, and back again after the event.

Says Brighton & Hove Buses’ Managing Director Martin Harris: “We’re all about making travel by bus accessible for everyone. Brighton & Hove Buses is known for its ground-breaking accessibility initiatives, such as the award-winning Helping Hand assistive card, the taxi guarantee scheme and having lighter, dementia-friendly, floors on all our new buses.

“We’re proud, once again, to support Disability Pride and also to begin a new partnership with Community Transport, who make a real difference to the lives of people in Brighton and Hove.”

Brighton held England’s first ever Disability Pride last year and other UK cities, like Norwich and York, have since followed in its footsteps. Last year’s event was attended by 2,000 people.
