Long-awaited, cost-effective challenger will be unveiled at ride-and-drive day at Rockingham next week
Higer integral coaches arrive in the UK when the Super 9 midi debuts at a ride-and-drive day at Rockingham Raceway next Thursday (14 June).
The Super 9 is 9.6m long and it seats up to 41 passengers depending on configuration. It represents a substantial improvement over the earlier Euro 5 model, which was sold in Ireland by Dublin-based importer Harris Group but never made it to the UK.
Harris has a supply arrangement with RWT Services, which is in the process of establishing a showroom at its Stourbridge premises. At least three other parties will be involved in the sale and support of the model.
Success in store?
“We believe that the Super 9 will bring a further option to the existing market and we are confident that it will be a hit in the UK,” says Harris Group Marketing Manager Chris Haughton.
“We have done a huge amount of work to make this a reality and we look forward to welcoming operators to Rockingham. Three Super 9s will be present and visitors will be able to test drive one of them.”
The Super 9 is powered by a 300bhp Cummins ISB6.7 engine coupled to a ZF EcoLife gearbox. With a rear continental door it seats 39; with an emergency exit that figure rises to 41. A longer derivative with 340bhp and up to 55 seats will compliment it later.
Custom or stock
30 stock Super 9s will start to arrive soon to complement customer orders. At least six have been sold to UK buyers. In stock form, the Super 9 is available with a variety of interior colour schemes and seat trims. It has 6.7m3 of underfloor luggage space. Custom variants will be built to order.
Further additions to the Higer line-up will include a Super 9 EV that promises a 400km ‘real world’ range and a 45-minute charging time. It will have the same passenger capacity as diesel examples. The first is expected here in October.
