The Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) has allocated £2m for a bus review in its draft 2019/20 budget.
The move comes despite the WAG continuing to freeze its Bus Services Support Grant at £25m, since it replaced BSOG in 2013.
The review comes after the production of regional bus strategies, a report of the Bus Policy Advisory Group, a detailed consultation on future bus policy in spring 2017, and a stalled consultation in the summer.
The WAG says it will publish a bus White Paper next month and legislate in the “next few years.”
The WAG says the £2m is for Transport for Wales to “take forward detailed business cases for improvements… that will work to the Welsh transport appraisal process (WelTAG) and the Treasury Green Book Five Case Model.”
