‘One of the best Plaxtons for years’ presented to Beverley operator; centre of 35-year Volvo relationship
One of the undoubted stars of CBUK was a striking Plaxton Elite-i-bodied Volvo B11R for Beverley-based Acklams Coaches, which formed the centrepiece of Volvo’s stand.
The coach – the third Elite-i for Acklams – has been fitted out to full sports team specification and it was also used to mark the 35th anniversary of Plaxton and Volvo’s relationship.
It was presented to Acklams Travel Director Paul Acklam by Alexander Dennis CEO Colin Robertson, Plaxton Commercial Manager Mark Ballam and Volvo Bus MD Nick Page.
AD Coach Systems has fitted out the Elite-i and Mr Ballam describes it as “one of the finest coaches that Plaxton has built for years.”
While in its early years it will be used as transport for members of Hull’s professional sports teams, like the other two Elite-is in Acklams’ fleet it is PSVAR-certified, meaning that in later life the 13.8m interdecker can be up-seated to a maximum of 69.
Mr Ballam adds that Plaxton will build around 12 Elite-is in 2017, just three of which will go to retail customers. Acklams took its first Elite-i in 2014 and the latest delivery marks a continuation of its long relationship with Plaxton and Volvo.
