CitySightseeing York demonstrated four low-emission open-top buses on Wednesday (12 August) outside York Minster.
The launch celebrates 20 years of the company touring York and comes after the frequency of the tours was increased from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes to meet rising demand.
The vehicles are equipped with wi-fi, USB ports, a 10 language speaker system and low-emission powertrains to be Clean Air Zone ready.
Over 50 key figures representing tourism agencies, visitor attractions and transport authorities were present for the launch. The vehicles were blessed by the Revd. Canon Maggie McLean, Canon in Residence at York Minster.
Parent company Transdev’s CEO Alex Hornby said: “This is a very proud moment for the whole team at Transdev and our CitySightseeing York operations, as we welcome everyone to discover this historic, diverse and friendly city from our four open top buses.
“As we celebrate our 20th year, we wanted to do something special and this investment proves our long-term commitment to CitySightseeing and tourism in York during what has been a successful yet delayed start to the usual season.”
Recently CitySightseeing York was awarded VisitEngland’s ‘good to go’ confidence mark, after demonstrating social distancing and cleanliness measures.
