Go North East (GNE) has become the latest operator to run a trial of the Yutong E12 battery-electric bus. It was used for three weeks on the firm’s Gateshead Interchange-Metro Centre X66 route and is the first zero-emissions bus to be used in the north east.
With air conditioning, USB ports and information screens the pilot is part of the firm’s efforts to introduce greener vehicles into its 650-strong fleet.
The E12, supplied by Pelican Bus and Coach, has moved to Stagecoach Newcastle on Monday for continued demonstration.
