An updated Irizar i4 was among several improvements to the Spanish firm’s range as the manufacturer celebrated its 130th anniversary at Busworld.
Most noticeable on the new Irizar i4 is a revised frontal appearance to bring it more in line with the i6S and i8 models. The rear aspect has also been restyled and the windscreen wiper arrangement is updated.
The new front is more aerodynamic. When combined with weight saving work elsewhere on the i4 that delivers a reduction in fuel consumption. LED headlights are optional.
Full LED lighting is integrated into the centre of the ceiling. A new luggage rack design and a redesigned seat also forms part of the overhauled i4. In integral form it is available to order now, says Irizar UK Sales Director Julie Hartley. The upgrade includes an LCD dash screen on diesel i4 integrals.
Also debuting at Busworld on an Irizar product was the Masats Swing Synchro door system. Shown on an i8 integral, it uses just one attachment at the midpoint of the door to give “perfect” sealing. That reduces the number of moving parts and improve durability and reliability.
Meanwhile, Irizar has signed a deal with Mobileye that will see the Mobileye 6 collision avoidance system fitted to all new Irizar integral vehicles as standard from this month.
Mobileye 6 identifies potential hazards and provides visual and audio alerts to help drivers to avoid or mitigate collisions.
It gives up to 2.7 seconds’ advance warning of imminent frontal collisions with other vehicles and helps to maintain safe following distances. Mobileye also recognises traffic and speed limit signs. It can turn headlights down automatically so as not to blind oncoming drivers.
