The UK’s market saw a second consecutive year of growth in 2016, as demand rose 8% for new PSVs, claims the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
In total 8,779 new coaches, buses and minibuses were registered.
Double-decks continued to drive growth in 2016, with full year demand rising by 27.9% to 1,927 buses, driven by the need to comply with PSVAR from 31 December.
Minibuses, which accounted for half of the market, made strong gains, with registrations increasing by 9.7% to 4,418, counteracting a -6.2% decline in single-deck vehicles.
The SMMT no longer releases details of registrations by manufacturer.
