Bakers Dolphin and student Harry Bessant (pictured, second from left) were recognised at the 2025 Weston College Business Awards after Mr Bessant began his working life with the coach operator driving minibuses via a partnership with the educational establishment.

Those tasks included home pick-ups for the business’s holiday programme and some home-to-school work.

The Into Work Partnership Award won jointly by Mr Bessant and Bakers Dolphin recognises learners who participate in the college’s Into Work supported internships. Those are created for students with special educational needs and/or disabilities and who aspire to enter employment.

It also celebrates the dedicated of employers that host those internships and provide support to the learners on their journey toward meaningful employment.

The award was presented to Mr Bessant and Bakers Dolphin Quality and Compliance Manager Derek Forbes (pictured, second from right) on 19 June. They saw off two other shortlisted finalists. Other categories within the scheme capture areas including apprenticeships, adult training, and industry placements.

Speaking about the joint victory, Bakers Dolphin Managing Director Max Fletcher says: “Harry has fitted in well with the team and he has been enthusiastic about the work we do.

“It is good to see young people coming into our industry, and being able to pass on knowledge to Harry has been a pleasure for our team.”

Weston College Principal and CEO Pat Jones (pictured, left) adds: “It was an honour to recognise the hard work of our incredible learners, whose determination continues to inspire us.

“We were also delighted to share the evening with our valued employer partners, whose ongoing support and collaboration play such a vital role in our learners’ success. We are also proud of Harry, who has shown fantastic dedication and made significant contributions to Bakers Dolphin.

“Congratulations to both Harry and Bakers Dolphin – your achievements are nothing short of inspiring.”
