The Department for Transport (DfT) is to take on board some of the critiscms levelled at it by the Transport Committee’s investigation into Section 19 (s19) permits. It has, however, rejected some aspects of the report.
The DfT, which was told to “re-open constructive dialogue” has agreed to meet Bus and Coach Association director Martin Allen. The DfT also accepts that it should have tackled the issues several years ago and will “take this into account when developing future policy.”
It has rejected the committee’s recommendation of a transition period for any changes, as Regulation 1079/2009 came into force in December 2011, and for the creation of new hybrid category of community transport operation licencing, as this would breach the Regulation.
