Transport Made Simple has reached agreement to buy the Go East Anglia business from the Go-Ahead Group.
Completion is expected by 1 October. It will take the Transport Made Simple fleet to 380 coaches, buses and minibuses, with a roster of 800 staff members. The purchase includes the Konectbus brand, which in March was extended across the Go East Anglia operation.
The buyer notes how addition of Go East Anglia will further complement its presence in the east of England, which grew significantly in 2024 with a deal for Simonds of Botesdale after other bouts of expansion. It has existing operations in Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk and plans to continue to develop the Go East Anglia business.
Go East Anglia customers will benefit from existing Transport Made Simple initiatives such as the Passenger Promise customer service commitment, although the purchaser notes that no immediate changes to services are planned.
Speaking about the acquisition, Transport Made Simple Group Managing Director Peter Nathanail says: “I am delighted to welcome the drivers, engineers, cleaners and support staff from Go East Anglia into our team and look forward to building on the excellent work that is already underway in delivering sustainable, high-quality bus services across the region.
“Our focus is always on building strong relationships with local stakeholders to ensure that we are providing bus services that meet community needs.”
Go-Ahead CEO, Bus, Matt Carney adds: “We are confident that Transport Made Simple will be a great new owner for Go East Anglia. Bringing together Go East Anglia’s network with Transport Made Simple’s existing operations will create a stronger local presence, supporting future growth in services and connectivity for passengers and the community.
“We are grateful to all our colleagues at Go East Anglia for their hard work and commitment over the years and we wish them every success for the future.”
