Neil Micklethwaite has been named a Strategic Advisor to C9 Recruitment. He brings over 20 years’ board-level experience spanning SMEs to multi-billion-pound PLCs, with his decision to join the passenger transport staffing specialist underlining its efforts to build its advisory capability and leadership team, C9 says.

Mr Micklethwaite is a director of Crescar Partners, a Dubai-based advisory firm focused on global transport. He is also Chair of rail infrastructure advisory business SLC and holds the same position with BA Events, a transport events and media expert.

Beyond those interests, he is an industrial fellow of the University of East London and continues to act as a corporate and personal advisor and mentor.

Mr Micklethwaite has in the past served as Commercial Director at three train operating companies. He counts Stagecoach as a previous employer, where he was Rail Division Commercial Director before becoming Group Business Development Director, and was a shareholder director in the joint venture with Virgin Rail Group.

C9 Recruitment says that what sets Mr Micklethwaite apart is “the rare combination of his professional accountancy background with extensive operational and commercial leadership.”

It notes how he “has overseen frontline service delivery, major projects, merger and acquisition activity, finance, business strategy and business development, making him one of the most versatile leaders in the transport sector.”

Adds Chief Executive Alfie Rae: “Neil’s appointment is another important step for C9 as we continue to strengthen our leadership and broaden our strategic capability.

“His career achievements speak for themselves. From delivering frontline services to shaping strategy at board level, Neil brings a perspective that will be invaluable as we expand. Having someone of Neil’s calibre on our advisory board is a privilege and I am excited about the opportunities ahead.”

Appointment of Mr Micklethwaite by C9 follows the naming of longstanding regulated bus market senior leader Nigel Wood onto the same Strategic Advisor panel.

“I am very pleased to join C9 Recruitment as a Strategic Advisor,” says Mr Micklethwaite. “Throughout my career I have been focused on safe, reliable and customer-focused transport services, and I see those same values reflected in C9’s approach.

“The business has built a strong reputation for compliance, trust and partnership. I look forward to working with C9 Recruitment to support its growth across the UK transport sector and beyond.”
