Stagecoach installs Stertil-Koni four-pillar lifts at Taff's Well depot

Stagecoach South Wales has installed two Stertil-Koni ST4175 heavy duty four-post lifts at its new Taff’s Well depot, where they work alongside a set of wireless mobile column lifts from the same supplier.

The four-post lifts are electro-hydraulic in operation and deliver access, efficiency and safety for engineers when maintaining and inspecting vehicles.

Their use alongside mobile columns gives what Stertil-Koni says is “a flexible workshop setup that supports both quick drive-on inspections and lifting solutions that adapt to the needs of different vehicles and maintenance tasks.”

Stagecoach chose the four-post lifts because they eliminate the need for permanent pits and reduce construction costs and disruption when being installed, the supplier adds.

Each of the ST4175 units gives a capacity of 17,500kg and a platform length of nine metres to make them well-suited to many heavy-duty vehicles. They are surface mounted and come with crossbeam-free construction, providing engineers with unobstructed access along the length of the vehicle.

A low drive-on height simplifies positioning for low clearance vehicles. Extra-long approach ramps mean that vehicle fronts do not ground when being driven onto the units, while the platforms can be adjusted to accommodate narrower axle widths.

Stertil-Koni notes that engineers benefit from smooth and precise lifting cycles thanks to an electrically controlled hydraulic system that delivers consistent performance even under uneven loads.

Safety comes via a patented mechanical locking system that operates independently of the hydraulic system and engages automatically by gravity. Control is via the eBright Smart Control System. It has a full-colour touchscreen to give intuitive and efficient operation.

Stagecoach South Wales Engineering Director John Edmunds notes how Taff’s Well depot “is the first if its kind in South Wales to boast two of the Stertil-Koni four-post ramps, which gives out engineering team better accessibility to work underneath our fleet.”

Adds Stertil-Koni National Accounts Manager Simon Laffoley: “We are proud to support Stagecoach South Wales with lifts that enhance both productivity and safety.

“The four-post lifts are ideal for quick drive-on inspections and offer many important safety features, ensuring that vehicles can get back on the road quickly and with complete confidence.”
