C9 Recruitment has strengthened its advisory board with the appointment of Matthew Stanbury as Strategic Advisor — HR and Culture.

The role will see Matthew supporting the business’ long-term people strategy as it scales. Matthew’s career spans senior HR leadership roles across logistics, transport and supply chain. He is currently Group HR Director at NWF Group, a specialist agricultural and distribution business, where he leads people strategy, organisational development and cultural change.

The appointment comes as C9 continues to expand its footprint as a specialist staffing partner to the UK coach and bus industry. The company says Matt brings experience in shaping “high-performing teams… across complex organisations,” overseeing HR transformation programmes, developing leadership, and strengthening workplace culture in safety-critical environments.

His background will inform the company’s approach to people, workforce planning, and cultural alignment as operators continue to face challenges around recruitment, retention and compliance.

Matthew believes the transport industry is at a pivotal moment, and effective people strategy is becoming increasingly important. He adds that C9’s “values of compliance, trust and partnership” align closely with his own, and he is looking forward to supporting the team as the business grows.

Says Daniel Lunn, Commercial Director at C9 Recruitment: “Matt brings a depth of HR and cultural leadership that strengthens C9 on every level. His experience shaping teams, developing people and building positive workplace cultures will play a key role in our growth. Having his expertise within the business strengthens our foundations as we continue to evolve.”

Alfie Rae, Chief Executive at C9 Recruitment, adds: “Matt’s experience as an industry HR leader adds an important new dimension to our advisory capability. His understanding of workforce development, organisational culture and modern people strategy will be invaluable as we continue to evolve as a business.”

Comments Sam Wharfe, Executive Chairman of C9 Recruitment: “We are delighted to welcome Matt to the advisory board. His leadership across logistics and transport, combined with a genuine passion for developing people, will add real strategic value as we strengthen our internal capability and future direction.”
