Yutong importer Pelican Bus and Coach has further strengthened its aftersales and engineering team with the appointment of Richard Northey (pictured, right) as Regional Service Manager for the South and Simon Carlisle (pictured, left) as Head of Engineering.
Mr Carlisle brings 40 years’ experience in the bus industry, most recently as Engineering Director of Go North East. Before that he held the same position with First Bus West Yorkshire. In the latter role, he was named Engineer of the Year, Large Operator (over 150 vehicles) at the 2022 routeone Awards.
His career began as an apprentice and he has achieved recognition for a people-focused leadership style. Mr Carlisle is described by the Yutong dealership as being “committed to teamwork, delivering results, and building on Pelican’s strong reputation for outstanding customer service.”
Mr Northey similarly brings decades of engineering and operational leadership experience. He joins from First Bus, where he was previously Engineering Director for its operations in the West of England and South and West Wales.
Prior to that, his career commenced with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and Mr Northey completed a full military stint as a commissioned officer at the rank of Captain. He has been with First Bus since 2006, and most recently has supported the introduction and testing of Yutong buses in the UK.
Speaking about the dual recruitment, Pelican Chief Operating Officer Katrina Hogan says: “Aftersales support and engineering are central to everything we do at Pelican.
“Simon and Richard bring outstanding experience, leadership and industry knowledge, and their appointments further strengthen our commitment to delivering the highest levels of service and support to our customers as the business continues to grow.”
The dealership adds that their arrivals continue Pelican’s longstanding investment in its engineering capability and aftersales support to ensure that customers receive industry-leading standards of service.
